Awami League ban appeal filed

Date:

In an attempt to outlaw the Bangladesh Awami League and revoke its political party registration due to mass killing, a writ petition was submitted to the High Court on Monday.

The executive director of the rights organization Sarda Society, Arifur Rahman Bhuiyan, submitted the writ and begged for the renaming of all the national institutions bearing the name of the deposed prime leader, Sheikh Hasina.

The petitioner additionally begged for the transfer of all contractual appointments made during the previous Awami League government, as well as for giving the interim government at least three years to implement the reform.

The case is expected to be considered by Justices Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam and AKM Asaduzzaman on the division bench of the High Court.
