Court of Appeals will consider plea in relation to RG Kar hospital incident
LIVE updates on the doctor rape-murder case in Kolkata: A suo motu case concerning the rape and killing of a trainee doctor at the RG Kar hospital in Kolkata is being heard by a Supreme Court panel led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud amid widespread demonstrations over the tragedy. In the meantime, national leaders and West Bengal governor CV Ananda Bose have convened in Delhi to discuss the matter with President Droupadi Murmu.

As the doctors’ strike enters its tenth day, health services across the nation are being negatively impacted. In response to pleas from doctors for safety, the Union Health Ministry has approved a 25% increase in security deployment at central hospitals.
In accordance with an order from the Calcutta high court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which took over from the Kolkata police, is currently looking into the issue. Permission to administer a polygraph test to Sanjoy Roy, the accused, has been granted to the CBI.
The West Bengal TMC administration has come under fire for allegedly being involved in suppressing protesters. During a rally, senior TMC leader Arup Chakraborty cautioned doctors that they would not be saved if public rage turned against them. In addition, he incited the wrath of other parties by threatening to break the fingers of individuals who were criticizing Mamata Banerjee.
