Sunamganj-based former planning minister detained

Former planning minister and MP MA Mannan, of Sunamganj-3 constituency, has been taken into custody by the police. He was taken into custody yesterday, Thursday, at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the district’s Shantiganj upazila.

Prothom Alo received confirmation of his arrest from Sunamganj Superintendent of Police (SP), AFM Anwar Hossain Khan, last night.

Regarding the attack on the students who were demonstrating on August 4, a charge was filed with the Sunamganj Sadar police station on September 2.

Hafiz Ahmed, a resident of Duara Bazar Upazila, filed a lawsuit under the speedy trial act, charging MA Mannan and 99 other persons. The attack harmed plaintiff’s brother Zahur Ahmed, according to the case statement.

Sunamganj SP AFM According to Anwar Hossain Khan, MA Mannan was detained in response to particular accusations. He is currently being held by the authorities at the Sadar police station. To question him, the police will ask for his remand.

Sheikh Hasina, the former prime minister, departed the nation on August 5th, following her resignation. Since then, 32 former ministers, legislators, and prominent members of the Awami League have been taken into custody.
