বাংলাদেশের প্রধানমন্ত্রী তারেক রহমানের সফরটি এমন সময় অনুষ্ঠিত হচ্ছে, যখন জাপানি ঋণের সুদের হার বাড়ানো নিয়ে বাংলাদেশের মধ্যে উদ্বেগ তৈরি হয়েছে। কারণ গত পাঁচ বছরে জাপান অন্তত চার বার ঋণের সুদ বাড়িয়েছে। এছাড়া বিভিন্ন উন্নয়ন প্রকল্প করে জাপানের নানা ধরনের শর্তারোপ নিয়েও অস্বস্তি আছে বাংলাদেশে।
