By fostering a bad relationship with India, the BNP has hurt Bangladesh, according to Obaidul Quader, general secretary of the Awami League.
He declared, “We wish to avoid difficulties with India. We desire diplomatic ties that are cordial, impartial, and honorable.”
Speaking at a joint gathering to get ready for the 75th anniversary of the Bangladesh Awami League’s formation was Obaidul Quader. The gathering took place at the Awami League headquarters on Bangabandhu Avenue this morning, Thursday.
Obaidul Quader, the minister of road transportation and bridges, gave a press conference ahead of the meeting to discuss the plans and arrangements for the Awami League’s anniversary. He unveiled a 10-point agenda commemorating the anniversary of the founding.
Obaidul Quader stated, “We want to maintain good relations with India,” in response to a query. Friendly ties make it feasible to have a courteous discussion across the table to address issues. For the benefit of Bangladesh’s national interest, we are building a comprehensive collaboration with India. At the expense of national interests, we shall not establish relationships with anyone.”
According to the general secretary of the Awami League, relations with India had deteriorated under Ziaur Rahman, Ershad, and Khaleda Zia’s administration. He claimed that the two countries’ relations were now beset by a wall of mutual mistrust and anxiety. The most harm to Bangladesh has been caused by Khaleda Zia’s bad relations with India.
According to Obaidul Quader, India has taken the effort to address the enduring border issues. He claimed that a consensus decision to address the border issues had been made by the Indian parliament. This move was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India.
Obaidul Quader discussed the state of the flooding in Sylhet, stating that the region has seen an increase in flooding. Numerous people are stranded in the water everywhere. Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister, regularly monitors the situation. She has urged activists and party leaders to be involved in the relief and rescue efforts. Relief efforts are being carried out by the state minister for disaster management, who has visited the areas impacted by flooding.
Speaking earlier about the Awami League’s founding anniversary preparations, Obaidul Quader claimed that the League was responsible for all of Bangladesh’s outstanding accomplishments. The Bengali people’s rights and democracy have been defended by the Awami League. Awami League is the organization that has helped many people win successful crowns. For the Awami League, these past 75 years have been a glorious ride.
Obaidul Quader provided a summary of the Awami League’s several programs in honor of the party’s founding anniversary. Among them is a march tomorrow, Friday, at 3:00 p.m. from the Engineers Institution to Dhanmondi Road 32. The events scheduled for June 23 include a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan at 2:30 pm, wreath-laying at Bangabandhu’s image in Tungipara, Gopalganj at 10:30 am, and the portrait of the leader at Dhanmondi Road 32 at 7:00 am. There will be cultural events on June 22 at Rabindra Sarobar and June 24 at Hatirjheel.
On this occasion, banners, posters, supplements, and movies will also be released. There will be tree planting events across the nation.
The party presidium members Shahjahan Khan and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, as well as joint general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, and Dipu Moni, mayor Atiqul Islam of Dhaka North City Corporation, and party office secretary Biplob Barua, were present during the joint meeting.
