“It Was Easier to Kill Than Say No”: Pune Murder Case Takes a Chilling Turn After Alleged Confession

Date:

The investigation into the sensational Pune murder case has taken a disturbing turn after police claimed that the prime accused, Siya Goyal, made a shocking statement during questioning. According to investigators, she allegedly admitted that ending her fiancé’s life seemed “easier” than telling her family she did not want to marry him. While the alleged confession has intensified public interest in the case, police continue to gather digital and forensic evidence, and all allegations remain subject to judicial scrutiny.

A Planned Wedding That Ended in a Murder Investigation

Ketan Agarwal, a Pune-based realtor, died after falling from a cliff at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala during a trip with his fiancée, Siya Goyal, on June 18. What was initially believed to be an accidental fall soon came under suspicion as investigators reportedly found inconsistencies in the sequence of events. The case was subsequently converted into a murder investigation, with police alleging that the incident was part of a premeditated plan involving Siya Goyal and her alleged partner, Chetan Chaudhary.

Alleged Confession Becomes the Focus of the Probe

According to police sources, Siya Goyal allegedly stated during interrogation that she did not wish to go ahead with her scheduled November wedding but feared disappointing her family by calling it off. Investigators claim she admitted that she believed committing the crime was an easier option than confronting her parents about the marriage. Police are treating this alleged statement as a significant lead, though its evidentiary value will ultimately be determined during legal proceedings.

Investigators Examine Evidence of an Alleged Conspiracy

Police believe the murder was carefully planned rather than being the result of a sudden altercation. Investigators have reportedly relied on call records, witness statements and technical evidence while reconstructing the events leading up to Ketan Agarwal’s death. Authorities claim the accused remained in frequent contact for several months before the incident and are now attempting to recover deleted data from their mobile phones to establish the alleged conspiracy and verify the sequence of communications.

Family Members and Close Associates Under the Scanner

As part of the expanding investigation, police have questioned Siya Goyal’s parents as well as her brother. During interrogation, investigators reportedly learned that her brother was aware of Chetan Chaudhary and their acquaintance through mutual friends. However, her parents have maintained that they had no knowledge of any relationship between the two. Police are also questioning individuals connected to the families, including those who were involved in arranging the marriage, to determine whether anyone had prior knowledge of the circumstances leading up to the incident.

Investigation Continues as Authorities Await More Digital Evidence

Multiple police teams are currently examining digital records, forensic findings and recovered electronic data to strengthen the case. Investigators are focusing on establishing the timeline of events, verifying communications between the accused and identifying any additional evidence that may support or contradict the prosecution’s theory. As the investigation progresses, authorities are expected to present further findings before the court, where the evidence will ultimately determine the outcome of the case.
