Ahmad Hossain, the organizing secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League, and Rear Admiral (retd) Mohammad Sohail, the immediate past chairman of the Chittagong port and a former spokesperson for the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), have been taken into custody.
This was confirmed on Wednesday morning by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) media wing.
According to the DMP, on Tuesday night, Ahmad Hossain and Mohammad Sohail were taken into custody from the city’s Banani and Rampura neighborhoods, respectively.
Following Sheikh Hasina’s resignation as prime minister and her departure from the nation on August 5th due to the student-people movement, the leaders of the Awami League and its affiliated groups fled into hiding.
On the list of individuals who fled into hiding following the overthrow of the government are former ministers, government officials, and other high officials who had significant positions within the state.
A portion of them are being detained in various parts of the nation.
