PM Hasina is eager to collaborate closely with the newly appointed UK PM Starmer

Date:

The newly elected British prime minister, Sir Keir Starmer, has received an official congratulations from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

In a letter of congratulations, she also stated that her government would like to collaborate closely with the next Labour government, led by Starmer, to further solidify the long-standing alliances in the areas of politics, economy, environment, and strategy.

“Most importantly, we would work together to continue utilizing the priceless contributions of over 700,000 vibrant and enterprising Bangladeshi-British diaspora members to the mutual benefit of our two countries,” the letter stated.

According to an official, the letter was delivered to the newly elected UK prime minister by the Bangladesh High Commission in London.

Sheikh Hasina wrote a letter expressing her sincere congratulations, as well as the congratulations of the government and people of Bangladesh, on Starmer’s party’s historic victory in the UK elections on July 4th and his appointment as prime minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

“This clear mandate demonstrates the faith and confidence of the British people in your ability to lead your nation to unprecedented levels of development and prosperity while advancing world peace,” the speaker remarked.

The prime minister used the occasion to reflect on the long friendship that the Labour Party and its illustrious leaders, including Sir Harold Wilson, Thomas Williams KC, and Lord Peter Shore, had with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder of Bangladesh, and his party, the Awami League, during the glorious War of Liberation in 1971.

She stated that it does, in fact, influence Bangladesh-UK relations, which are based on shared ideals of democracy, secularism, and inclusive and progressive goals.
