Rinku Singh included in India B, Agarwal to captain India A

Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav and Akash Deep, all five of whom have been named in India’s Test squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh have been released for the second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25. They are among the eight players relieved from the tournament to take part in the Test series.

Mayank Agarwal was named the captain of India A following Gill’s departure. The Indian men’s selection panel has also named Pratham Singh as a replacement for Gill, Akshay Wadkar as a replacement for KL Rahul, SK Rasheed as a replacement for Jurel, Shams Mulani as a replacement for Kuldeep and Aaqib Khan as a replacement for Akash Deep.

India A squad: Mayank Agarwal (c), Riyan Parag, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Kumar Kushagra, Shaswat Rawat, Pratham Singh, Akshay Wadkar, SK Rasheed, Shams Mulani, Aaqib Khan

In India B, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant and Yash Dayal have been left out after being named in the India squad and the selectors have named Suyash Prabhudessai and Rinku Singh as replacements. Sarfaraz Khan, who too has been named in India’s squad, will feature in the second-round game though. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh’s Himanshu Mantri has also been added to the squad.

India B squad: Abhimanyu Easwaran (c), Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini, Mukesh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, R Sai Kishore, Mohit Awasthi, N Jagadeesan (wk), Suyash Prabhudessai, Rinku Singh, Himanshu Mantri (wk)

The team C squad remains unchanged for the second round, while India D will miss out on Axar Patel’s services. The left-arm spinner has been replaced by Haryana’s Nishant Sindhu. Meanwhile, Tushar Deshpande has been ruled out of the tournament due to a niggle and has been replaced by Vidwath Kaverappa, who has moved from India A.
