Rain cancels the first day of the second Test

Date:

The opening day of Pakistan and Bangladesh’s second and final Test at Rawalpindi washed out on Friday due to heavy rain.

The toss was delayed by overnight downpours, and just after midday, the umpires called off the day’s play due to more monsoon rains.

The Pakistan Cricket Board announced that play on the first day had to be canceled due to the soggy outfield and continuous rain. Both teams stayed in their lodgings.

Bangladesh won the first Test on Sunday, which was also held in Rawalpindi, and the hosts Pakistan are keen to even the two-match series.

It was Bangladesh’s first Test victory over Pakistan in 14 matches, winning by 10 wickets.

The pace spearhead for Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, was left out of the 12-man team so he could spend more time with his newborn kid.

Bangladesh, who have defeated Zimbabwe (2021) and the West Indies (2009), are looking to win just their third away series since obtaining Test status in 2000.
