Obaidul Quader, the minister of road transport and bridges and general secretary of the Awami League (AL), stated on Wednesday that the government is indifferent to the penalties inflicted by those who advocate genocide.
“The government does not have any headache over sanctions of those who have been giving support to genocide and the killing of children in Palestine day after day,” he stated at the meeting.
This afternoon, at the AL’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue, a discussion titled ‘Smart Bangladesh enriched in cultural diversity’ was organized by the subcommittee on culture matters.
The purpose of the conference was to decide on the action plan for June 23’s 75th anniversary of the Awami League’s formation.
In his position as the main guest, Quader stated that Israel had arbitrarily killed 35,000 innocent Palestinians to date, and that they are doing so in defiance of a UNSC resolution that demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
“US police attacked students who held protests against it. Ropes were tied behind the hands of the female pupils as they were hauled away. There are human rights violations occurring. The US backs Netanyahu and Israel. We don’t have any issues with their visa policy or sanctions if this is their democracy and human rights,” the man stated.
In response to a query concerning the US sanctions placed on Aziz Ahmed, the former chief general of Bangladesh’s army (retd), Quader stated that the army follows its own set of guidelines and that Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister of Bangladesh and the daughter of Bangabandhu, will not pardon anyone who violates them.
The general secretary of the AL criticized BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for his remarks regarding the murder of Anwarul Azim, MP, and asserted that BNP leader Salahuddin’s life is still safe in India, a friendly nation.
Mirza Fakhrul was advised by Quader not to engage in political finger-pointing regarding the friendly nation.
