Oman has declared the lifting of the 10-or so category-specific temporary visa restrictions for citizens of Bangladesh.
As a result of the ruling, Bangladeshi people residing in the GCC nations will now be eligible to apply for official visas, family visas, and visas for engineers, doctors, nurses, teachers, accountants, investors, high-income tourists, and visitors.
In a press statement on Wednesday, foreign minister’s office director of public relations Mir Akram Uddin Ahammad revealed the information.
According to the announcement, the Omani embassy in Dhaka announced in a self-explanatory note that the responsible authorities has lifted the temporary visa restrictions placed on citizens of Bangladesh.
All official visas, family visas, engineers, physicians, nurses, teachers, accountants, investors, high-income tourists, and visitors visas for Bangladeshi nationals residing in GCC nations are also excluded from the requirement for a visa.
The note stated that all applications and supporting documentation in these categories will now be received and processed by the local embassy, in cooperation with the Oman police.
It further guaranteed that relevant authorities in Bangladesh and Oman are actively striving to eliminate the prohibition on “work visas.”
In October 2023, the Omani police temporarily outlawed all visa categories from Bangladesh, with the exception of those needed for official business, as part of an effort to reevaluate their whole immigration policy.
