The bodies of twenty-one people—including a child—who died in the skirmishes at the heart of the quota reform movement were interred without identification.
In the previous three days, the police turned over the 21 bodies from the morgues of three government hospitals in Dhaka to Anjuman Mufidul Islam.
The bodies were later interred, arranged by the charitable organization.
The bodies of nine people—including a child—killed in the riots were delivered to Anjuman Mufidul Islam sources on Monday from the morgue of Dhaka Medical College.
They received two further dead from the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue that same day, and on Tuesday, they received a body from Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford).
Nine bodies that were left at the Dhaka Medical College mortuary unclaimed were given to the organization on Wednesday.
The City Corporation had identified the Rayerbagh area of Muhammadpur as the burial site for the 21 unclaimed dead.
Prothom Alo was informed by Kamrul Ahmed, the burial service officer at Anjuman Mufidul Islam, that the police had turned over the 21 unclaimed bodies to them in three days.
He did, however, reluctant to disclose further specifics.
Six people’s bodies were transported to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue on Monday, an individual involved in the morgue’s management informed Prothom Alo, under condition of anonymity. Several of them had marks from bullet injuries. Others’ bodies were severely damaged.
