PM Hasina of Bangladesh promotes private initiatives for advancement of the aquaculture and livestock sectors.

Date:

On Friday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emphasized the need of ensuring food and nutrition security and urged the private sector to contribute to the growth of the nation’s cattle, poultry, and fisheries industries.

“I want the business community to step up. More entrepreneurs in the private sector is something I would want to see. In any way I can, I want to help. We hope to do this in order to increase national employment as well,” she stated.

She made these remarks as the chief guest at the Livestock Services Week and Exhibition-2024 opening ceremony at the former Trade Fair Ground in Sher-e-Banglanagar, the metropolis.

According to her, if everyone pursues their own entrepreneurial and trading endeavors rather than looking for employment after graduation,

“We can progress a lot,” she remarked, if everyone pursues their own entrepreneurial and trading endeavors rather than following the occupations after graduation.

Sheikh Hasina advised everyone to support the nation’s youth in starting their own businesses so they won’t have to rely on anybody else in the future.

“We believe that we can ensure our nutrition as well,” she stated, referring to the achievement of food security.

The prime minister also said that sheep and buffaloes are raised in the nation’s charlands, including Bhasanchar, where the Rohingya people have been housed and livestock, fish, and poultry are raised.

“We can meet our own needs if we make use of the land we have,” she remarked.

She invited everyone to attend.

“We want to grow the livestock industry even further. She stated, “We already have online tools designed to help this livestock industry, and we hope they will be beneficial enough for it.

Md. Abdur Rahman, Minister of Fisheries and Livestock, presided over the welcoming speech, which was given by Secretary Md. Selim Uddin.

The country’s dairy industry was represented by Imran Hossain, President of the Bangladesh Dairy Farmers’ Association, and the poultry industry by Mashiur Rahman, Joint Convener of the Bangladesh Poultry Industry Central Council (BPICC).

A video about the achievements and advancements made by the current government in the cattle industry was screened at the beginning of the event.

The premiere went to the show as well.

The prime minister stated that ensuring food security comes first on the government’s list of priorities, followed by ensuring nutrition.

“… and that action has been taken. Research has been prioritized since, without it, high-yielding cultivars cannot be produced, the speaker added, adding that effective research is essential for any nation to progress.

Sheikh Hasina added that the government is striving to mechanize agriculture and that, in order to do so, subsidies and special attention have been given to this matter.

“In addition, we have implemented extensive initiatives to boost the nation’s protein production,” she continued.

According to the premier, during her term, Khaleda Zia promised to provide rice and pulses for her compatriots. However, Khaleda claimed that she had failed to give the populace rice and pulse.

Then, in 2007, Fakhruddin Ahmed, the chief adviser to the Caretaker Government, and Moinuddin Ahmed, the army chief at the time, asked people to eat potatoes, she added.

Sheikh Hasina stated, “Someone wanted to feed us potatoes and someone wanted to feed us pulse.”

She mentioned that Bangalees enjoy rice and fish and added that it is sufficient for them to have both.

“We desire rice-fish.” We examine the problem. There’s no lack of rice and pulse fish these days,” she continued.

In order to guarantee food security, Sheikh Hasina also emphasized enhancing the storage capacity of all goods, including food grains, fish, and meat products.

In order to guarantee safe food, she urged those who were concerned to give nontoxic food to cattle animals and fisheries.

The prime minister urged private business owners to strive toward enhancing the nation’s livestock, fishery, and poultry industries.

“All support will be provided by the government,” she declared.

She demanded that packaging adhere to international standards and that agricultural production and processing be done in a clean manner.

Sheikh Hasina, however, stated that despite achieving extensive marine borders, Bangladesh is still unable to retrieve resources from the deep sea.

In reality, we won’t be hiring any entrepreneurs for this job. She stated, “This is the actuality.

According to the prime, Bangladesh has large ocean territories, and a blue economy has been declared to make use of these resources.

“However, it is regrettable that we have not yet been able to retrieve resources from the deep sea,” she remarked.
