As it was on Friday, the ongoing curfew in Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, and Narsingdi would be loosened for nine hours on Saturday till 5:00 p.m.
On Friday, July 26, at 12:00 am, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan announced the 9-hour weekend curfew relaxation in his Dhanmondi mansion in the capital. The meeting started at 10:30 pm on Thursday and included senior law enforcement personnel.
He stated that since there have been no recorded incidents, the curfew relaxation is being prolonged for a longer length of time. The deputy commissioner will decide whether to impose curfews in other areas after consulting with law enforcement.
The curfew for those five districts was kept loose on July 24, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Nationwide demonstrations and street fights gave rise to a movement centered on changing the quota system for government employment. At least 209 people have died as a result of attacks, vandalism, and arson that have occurred across the nation.
A national curfew was imposed starting at 12:00 am on Friday, July 19, in response to the protests and confrontations. Troops were also stationed at several locations to support civil administration.
