Now fighting in the 76 kg weight class after up from the 72 kg weight class
Olympics 2024: India’s best chance of winning another wrestling medal in Paris is through Reetika Hooda. At 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, she will play her opening round match against Hungary’s Bernadett Nagy. Nagy won bronze medals in the European Championship twice.
India’s Medal Count at the Paris Olympics
India has won six medals from the Paris Olympics thus far, comprising one silver and five bronze. Hooda plans to compete in the 76 kg women’s freestyle division. In the following round, if she prevails over Nagy, she might play Kyrgyzstan’s Aiperi Medet Kyzy, the first seed.
The Weight Challenges of Reetika Hooda
Hooda is the first Indian to reach the finals in the 76 kg heavyweight class. She had previously participated in the 72 kg division before moving up last year, so this weight class is new to her.
Reetika Hooda’s Exercise Schedule
Hooda has struggled to maintain her weight. She has to put on 78 kg of weight, which is about 74–75 kg more than her natural weight. “I simply eat, exercise, eat, exercise, and repeat. It’s a healthy intake of protein, of course. I struggle in a different way,” Hooda said to PTI.
Hooda trains with three main meals and a few snacks to keep her weight stable. She said that her mother makes sure she follows her eating plan, which is planned by her nutritionist, Mitali. For protein, she had to include chicken in her diet, which took some getting used to at first.
Hooda’s attention and tenacity demonstrate her dedication to achieving her objective at the Olympics in Paris.
