On Wednesday, President Mohammed Shahabuddin ordered the police to use more force in putting an end to the chaos and looting that has taken over the nation.
When recently appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Mainul Islam paid him a courtesy call at the president’s official residence, Bangabhaban, he issued the directions.
“Every police officer is expected to uphold the “line of command” and carry out their responsibilities with courage and good spirits. And in this regard, the IGP needs to take the required actions,” he directed.
Reporters were briefed later by Md. Joynal Abedin, the president’s press secretary.
President Shahabuddin congratulated the new IGP and stated that the police play a critical role in upholding law and order in the nation and guaranteeing the security of people’s lives and property.
According to the President, normalizing law and order in the nation is crucial given the current circumstances, and the police must carry out this duty.
Major General Md. Adil Chowdhury, the military secretary, Md. Wahidul Islam Khan, the president’s press secretary, and Md. Joynal Abedin were present at the meeting.
