After a four-day visit to the United States to attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and other high-level side activities, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus departed New York for home today.
According to CA’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, “a commercial flight of Qatar Airways carrying the chief adviser and his entourages departed from the JKF International Airport, New York, at 9:30 pm (NY Time) on Friday.”
On September 29, at 2:15 a.m. (BD Time), Prof. Yunus is anticipated to arrive at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
According to Alam, the main adviser had 40 high-level meetings with the leaders of several international organizations and the governments of 12 nations, including US President Joe Biden.
He stated, “We believe it was a significant step for Bangladesh to advance its diplomatic and economic relations and partnership with the world.”
On September 23, the main adviser flew into New York to attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
In addition to speaking at the UNGA session on Friday, September 27, he had a bilateral meeting with US President Joseph R. Biden on Tuesday, September 24.
Prof. Yunus also participated in bilateral discussions with a number of other prime ministers, including those of the Netherlands, Italy’s Giorgia Meloni, Pakistan’s Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Nepal’s KP Sharma, and the United Nations’ António Guterres.
During his visitation in New York, the chief adviser was visited by the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, President of the World Bank Group Ajay Banga, and USAID administrator Samantha Power, among others.
In addition, Dr. Yunus attended a number of esteemed functions in New York during the UNGA meeting.
