The relationship between India and Bangladesh is a “model” and “example” for others, according to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, as both nations have solved numerous issues through communication.
Many issues between Bangladesh and India have been settled through communication. This connection might serve as an example and model for many other neighboring nations, the speaker stated.
The Prime Minister said this when Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, the Chief of Naval Staff of India, paid her a courtesy call at her Sangsad Bhaban Office.
In this context, Sheikh Hasina stated, “This example has been created in combination with these (solutions)” in reference to the resolution of land boundaries, maritime boundaries, etc. between Bangladesh and India.
Following the call, reporters were informed by the press secretary for the prime minister, Md. Nayeemul Islam Khan.
“We always remember the assistance and contribution of Indian people during our war of liberation,” the prime minister reportedly added, recalling India’s contributions to the battle of independence of Bangladesh.
Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, the Chief of Naval Staff of India, stated that he feels at home in Bangladesh because there aren’t many natural distinctions between the two countries.
The press secretary quoted the Naval Chief of India as saying that Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, speaking about cooperation between the two countries’ Navys, stated, “If Bangladesh Navy seeks any cooperation, Indian Navy has no option to say ‘no’ to the Bangladesh Navy.”
The Bangladesh Military Museum (BMM) was visited by the Chief of the Naval Staff of India, who praised it as being of the highest caliber and expressed his profound impression. “He is bringing back some ideas that he would provide to their organization so that they can replicate those. It’s educational and effective,” he remarked.
Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi mentioned that he told his counterpart that Bangladesh might send additional officers if it so desired, referring to the fact that many naval officers from that country are undergoing training in India.
According to the press secretary, the prime minister and the chief of the Indian Navy expressed their opinion that Bangladesh and India share the same view of maintaining the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean as “peaceful,” and that they would cooperate as they don’t anticipate any unrest in the area.
He also spoke about his visit to the Bangabandhu Museum in Dhanmondi-32 during the meeting, stating that he was overcome with emotion upon witnessing the monument to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s sacrifices and contributions.
The growth of Bangladesh under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s direction was also commended by the Chief of the Indian Naval Staff.
Mohammad Salahuddin, the PMO secretary, attended the meeting.
