The Rampura neighborhood of the city has seen an attack on the Bangladesh Television (BTV) headquarters.
In the afternoon of this Thursday, a group of individuals broke through the main gate of the BTV offices. Subsequently, they started fires inside several motorbikes and two microbuses.
More than a hundred people broke through the main gate to reach BTV headquarters, according to eyewitnesses. They then lit two motorbikes and an auto rickshaw powered by compressed natural gas on fire in front of the main gate.
Subsequently, they entered the house and damaged several flower pots. At that moment, BTV officers and staff were observed standing tensely on various floors of the BTV building.
In response to the protest, the police officers stationed in front of the BTV headquarters have moved to the Malibagh crossroads. During regular pauses, they have been shooting sound grenades and tear gas rounds against the demonstrators.
Afterwards, at approximately 5:45 p.m., members of Ansar, the BGB, and the police gathered in front of the BTV headquarters and began a drive there.
The demonstrators had earlier in the day set fire to and vandalized the assistant commissioner of traffic police’s office, which is situated just next to the Rampura Bridge.
outside the time, three further motorcycles that were parked outside a police outpost’s gate close to East West University’s entrance in Aftabnagar were also set on fire.
