Following the first day’s washout on Friday due to rain in Rawalpindi, Bangladesh won the toss and put Pakistan in to bat in the second Test on Saturday.
Pakistan lost the first Test by ten wickets, also in Rawalpindi, and now have just four days to win the two-match series.
Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed was substituted for the injured Shoriful Islam by Bangladesh, who had won their first Test match against Pakistan in fourteen years.
Pakistan sent in fast bowler Mir Hamza and spinner Abrar Ahmed while resting new-ball bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah.
The two-game series is a part of the third cycle of the World Test Championship.
